Wheeler Dealer Live Stage at Classic Motor Show

There’s plenty to see and do on the Wheeler Dealer Live Stage at this year’s Footman James Classic Motor Show when it drives into Birmingham’s NEC from 12-14 November. Quizzes, games, special guests and a mechanical challenge – all brought to you by motoring expert Mike Brewer and madcap car mechanic Edd China, TV’s Wheeler Dealers.
Every year Edd has a new challenge and this year’s ups the ante, involving the build-up of a Chesil Speedster – one of the best replicas available today, faithfully recreating the original Porsche 356 but with several subtle updates for the rigors of modern motoring. Edd has the duration of the show to complete the car before it is delivered to its owner.
Using a rebuilt 1800cc air-cooled engine, the car is painted in traditional silver with a red interior. Edd’s car also has an external fuel filler (original cars were filled under the bonnet) and a heated windscreen makes winter driving safer and more comfortable. Wind-up windows replace the sliding types fitted on original cars, but the wooden steering wheel and original-faced gauges are a link with the past.
This year the stage sees a new sponsor – Autosessive, which puts enthusiasts and classic car owners firmly in the driving seat when it comes to looking after their cherished car. Offering an extensive programme of replacement parts as well as tools and valeting products, Autosessive is pushing its message as being the one-stop to source the parts your classic needs.
The Live Stage is also playing host to special guests, including highly-regarded tin-top driver Barrie ‘Whizzo’ Williams, as well as the team involved in the gruelling and still much talked-about 1970 World Rally Championship.
There’s the chance to pit your classic car wits against others with the laugh-a-minute Play Your Cars Right game and the Generation Challenge, brought to you by Autosessive and Footman James which combines classic cars with much-loved TV game show The Generation Game. Visitors get the chance to win a multitude of prizes to take home, making the Footman James Classic Motor Show THE place to be for any motoring enthusiast.
The Classic Motor Show is open from 10am until 7pm on Friday, 9.30am until 7pm on Saturday, and 9.30am until 5.30pm on Sunday. Ticket prices range from £17.50 when purchased in advance.
