A warmer winter for buyers in South Carntyne

For those in search of warmer climes this winter, then a visit to Bellway Homes’ delightful new show apartment at Eastfields is a must, as its colourful and vibrant interior is as fresh as a summer’s morning.

Situated off Myreside Street in South Carntyne, Eastfields is a substantial development from the award winning house builder. Offering a collection of properties from one and two-bedroom apartments to two and three-bedroom terraced, semi-detached and detached homes as well as three-bedroom townhouses, each property has been specifically designed to offer comfortable, modern accommodation that makes superb use of the space available, which the new show apartment effortlessly demonstrates.

The well-planned lounge has a retro feel, but the emphasis is very much on sophistication as opposed to kitsch. Crisp, white walls and white-washed floorboards create the perfect backdrop that allows the accent colour of turquoise to make its striking visual impact in the scatter cushions, glass ornaments and bold rug in the centre of the room.

Positioned in front of the lounge windows, which allow natural light to illuminate the room, an ivory leather sofa is the perfect vantage point to watch the large plasma screen TV on the main feature wall, which hangs above a slick, white veneered sideboard that matches the elegant, oblong coffee table. In the corner of the room, an ochre suede chaise-longue is the ideal place to curl up with a favourite book at the end of the day.

Moving into the kitchen, again the use of white dominates in the walls and fitted units, which work well against the clear-cut lines of the brushed chrome oven, five-ring hob, cooker hood and splashback, the ebony and ivory wood effect flooring and the black matt work-surface. A brush stroke of colour is injected via the azure and yellow blind, which suggests Aztec influences in the design pattern.

The warmth of colour continues within the two-bedrooms, which call to mind summer holidays on the med. The master-bedroom has one wall finished in Egyptian gold, which contrasts with the rich purple fabric that adorns the headboard and turquoise valance. Black, boxed-shaped bedside tables, and a matching desk with a state-of-the-art chair, add a masculine element to the room, ensuring that this is a boudoir that will appeal to both male and female alike.

The second bedroom reverses the colour trend of the master bedroom, as a turquoise wall frames the bright yellow headboard, with matching valance. The understated white dressing-table, glass bed side tables and lamps fashion a room that is light and airy.

Fraser Conn, Sales and Marketing Director at Bellway Homes, says: “When dressing a showhome at this time of the year, there is often a tendency to go for muted tones and colours to match the season. However, at Eastfields we want the show apartment to evoke a feeling of warmth and energy.”

“The development is being built in a part of the city currently undergoing its own urban regeneration programme and has been well-received by the local market. The launch of the show apartment is another milestone at Eastfields, so it seems fitting to mark the occasion with a real flourish, which we’ve done through the interior.”

Launched just over three years ago, Eastfields is set to provide some 700 new homes on completion and spans a 70 acre site. Despite testing times in the market over the last few years, the development has consistently received a healthy foot flow, indicative of the need for quality homes in this part of the city.

Further adding to the appeal of Eastfields is Bellway Homes’ involvement in the Low-cost Initiative for First Time buyers (LIFT) programme, introduced by the Scottish Government earlier this year.

The LIFT initiative aims to help people on low to moderate incomes who want to own their home but who cannot afford to pay the full price for a house.

Under the terms of LIFT, the Scottish Government and Bellway jointly fund the balance of a property price through an interest free equity loan, with the homebuyer funding the majority share. The initial percentage share a buyer can secure is between a minimum of 60% and a maximum of 80%, but buyers also have the option to increase their stake at any time after the initial purchase, even up to 100% if they wish.

Should a buyer decide to sell their property, if they have a 60% shared equity stake, they will receive 60% of the market value of their property at the time they sell, with the Scottish Government and Bellway Homes each receiving their 20% share.

For potential house-hunters at Eastfields, this means that they could secure a new two-bedroom apartment similar to the show apartment, priced at £99,995, for less than £70 a week with a shared equity stake of 60%.

Eastfields is situated perfectly for access to a choice of local amenities, such as The Forge shopping centre, which is within walking distance to the development. Nearby, Tollcross Park Leisure Centre, with its 50-metre swimming pool, gym, dance studio, health suite, sauna, spa and steam room, offers a wealth of activities all year round.

Glasgow’s dynamic city centre is also close to hand, as it is just seven minutes by train from Carntyne Station to Queen Street Station.

The accessibility of Eastfields extends beyond the city centre, as easy access from Carntyne to the M8 motorway network links this part of the city to all the major road routes across the central belt and beyond.

Prices at Eastfield are currently released from £86,995. In addition to the LIFT, Bellway Homes currently has several incentives to assist house hunters including ‘Part Exchange’ and ‘5% Deposit Paid’. To visit the new show apartment, or for further details of the incentives available, contact the Eastfields sales centre open daily from 10am to 5pm.
