Daihatsu praises British International Motor Show

24th July 2006 Print
Daihatsu Copen Compact car specialist, Daihatsu, is already declaring the new British International Motor Show a resounding success.

Not only does the West Bromwich-based company believe the London Docklands venue a big improvement on the former Birmingham NEC location but is enjoying healthy interest in its entire range of models.

Operations Director, Paul Hegarty, said: “We are delighted with the footfall on our stand and sold two Copen sports cars within hours of opening, no doubt thanks to its unique offer and our current £2,000 price reduction.

“We feel the show organisers have got things just right as far as generating the right atmosphere for the public and past experience tells us that Copen always attracts massive attention at such events. Combined with our new Terios SUV having its public airing, we already have good vibes that this event will generate good business for Daihatsu.”

The Daihatsu Copen currently costs £11,495 (on-the-road) for the standard cloth-trimmed model with a leather pack option adding £500.

However, all Copens are extremely well-equipped with, for example, air-conditioning, remote keyless central-locking, electric windows, radio/CD player, alloy wheels, front fog lamps, power steering, ABS with EBD and twin airbags as standard.

This is in addition to the Copen’s ‘party-piece’ of a Mercedes SLK-like electric folding metal roof providing convenience and security.

Already a cult, the Copen features cute looks and a 660 cc turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine which gives a 106 mph top speed, 0-62 mph time of 11.7 seconds and 50.4 mpg on the Extra Urban Cycle.

The £2,000-off campaign runs until the end of September and is available at participating Daihatsu dealers.

The Copen comes with a three year unlimited mileage warranty with roadside assistance plus a six year anti-perforation warranty.
