Daihatsu - Company car of choice

25th November 2008 Print
Daihatsu Sirion Compact car specialist Daihatsu is combating the changes in tax rules that under the current regime penalise both employees and employers where thirsty, instead of environmentally-friendly vehicles, are provided.

As the Government shows no sign of deviating from their strategy, added to the uncertain fuel-costs and tighter budgets, this has left most companies in a quandary over alternative arrangements.

Daihatsu, which is behind the ‘National Cheaper Motor Campaign’, can add a fifth ingredient to the menu of its four key features – excellent fuel economy, low Road Fund Licences, five-year warranty and proven reliability – the added bonus of taxable benefit!

Cars producing CO2 emissions of 120g/km or less are subject to a taxable benefit of 10% of the list price under the Inland Revenue Company Car Scheme rules.

Daihatsu’s 1.0S and 1.0SE Sirion models produce just 118g/km, and with the 1.0S costing just £8,495 on the road, a basic rate tax payer opting for this car as their company vehicle will pay tax of just £14.16 per month or £169.90 per annum.

In addition, all Daihatsus now come with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty plus five years’ UK roadside recovery. The offer is not transferable and applies to all retail sales.

Paul Hegarty, Operations Director, Daihatsu Vehicle Distributors Ltd said: “We are delighted that the Inland Revenue is finally giving recognition to motorists wishing to ease the burden not only on the environment, but also on their wallets. Daihatsu is a brand that is synonymous with reliable, low-polluting and economical compact cars. Despite the difficult economic climate, our cars really are perfectly tuned for these challenging times.”
