Virgin Trains launches first class seat sale

30th November 2010 Print

With the festive season almost upon us, Virgin Trains is urging all passengers to check train times and book seats home in plenty of time as services around the holiday period on all routes are already very busy.

Current tickets sales are up 14% compared with this time last year and with a total of 146,876 seats booked across the Virgin Trains network, this year could be record breaking.  With Wednesday 29th December being recorded as the busiest day to travel so far, Virgin Trains is also reporting a 23% increase in the number of tickets booked travelling between Euston to Birmingham and Wolverhampton over the holiday period.  London to Manchester comes a close second with a 22% increase and tickets to Liverpool are up 10% year on year.

From 30th November Virgin Trains are putting 50,000 first class seats up for grabs at knockdown prices.  Tickets are for travel on journeys to and from London from 11th December to 23rd January 2011 inclusive.

Passengers will get the chance to travel in style and arrive refreshed at their Christmas destination for as little as: £19 one way to the West Midlands; £25 one way to the North West; £28 one way to North Wales and £35 one way to Scotland.  The offer ends on 5th December or when the 50,000 tickets are sold out.

Jim Rowe, Senior Communications Manager at Virgin Trains says:  “The Christmas period is always very busy and we are urging everyone to book their tickets home as early as possible.

“But we are absolutely delighted to be able to offer 50,000 First Class seats at rock bottom prices to our customers this Christmas – what a great way to journey home! But do book now because once they are gone, they’re gone!”
