Conders garage joins forces with Daihatsu

4th February 2009 Print
Japanese compact car specialist Daihatsu has increased its dealer network in Peterborough with the appointment of Conders Garage.

The family-owned dealer first opened its doors more than 30 years ago and, together with its 10 experienced staff, has established excellent relationships with its current franchises and customers. It will offer a full range of new and used Daihatsu products at its bright, warm and welcoming purpose-built showroom in Newark Road, Peterborough.

Dealer Principal, Mark Johnson, said: “The current market conditions are driving consumers to more affordable vehicles. Daihatsu’s compact cars and low operating costs are a natural choice for us to help generate new converts to add to our already loyal customer base.”

Paul Hegarty, Operations Director, Daihatsu Vehicle Distributors Limited, said: “Global environmental issues, social changes, and shifts in consumer values are all combining to put compact cars in the spotlight. Since Daihatsu Motor Company was established in 1907, we have been focused on compact cars. This is an age with many issues. Big is not better anymore. Rather, small is smart. Our cars are friendly to the environment as well as being people friendly. As a company we are practical, innovative and imaginative and we aim to become the world's leading compact car range of compact vehicles, that will ensure their success in Peterborough.”

The Coleshill-based Japanese compact car specialist aims to have appointed 20 new dealers in 2008 and currently boasts 105 UK showrooms.

Meanwhile, while some major motor manufacturers have seen a large drop in sales, Daihatsu are bucking the trend, with a tiny 3.9% ’07-’08 downturn in sales – one of the top 10 results even in this tough economic climate – proving the dynamic Daihatsu blend of great value for money, excellent fuel economy, low emissions, small road fund licences and proven reliability make a popular choice.
