Christmas hotel packages: Macdonald Compleat Angler
Magical Christmas breaks are on offer at the luxurious Macdonald Compleat Angler, which overlooks the river Thames at Marlow Bridge, Buckinghamshire.
The special two and three night packages, which start on Friday, 24th December, are priced from £335 per person including festive menus and lively entertainment.
Dating back to the 17th century, the elegant four AA red star hotel takes its name from Isaak Walton's world-famous book on angling. It's now a peaceful haven with an enviable reputation for exceptional cuisine, fine wines and stylish accommodation. Combine this with the warmth of an open log fire, festive decor, congenial hospitality and delicious food and it's the perfect place for a magical Christmas break.
On arrival you will be warmly welcomed with a traditional cream tea before joining other guests for the evening's festive celebrations. Dinner will be by candlelight to the tones of a soft jazz band in the AA two rosette Bowaters riverside restaurant as you watch the town's Christmas lights dance on the water.
Christmas morning begins in style with the choice of a Bucks Fizz full English breakfast in your room or the restaurant. You will have plenty of time to open presents during the morning, or take a gentle stroll alongside the river, to build up an appetite for the four-course festive lunch created by head chef David Smith in Bowaters. And Santa will bring a gift for every child aged under 12 years.
There's also the option of sampling the outstanding cuisine in the hotel's three rosette restaurant, Aubergine at the Compleat Angler, sister to the London restaurant of the same name. Christmas Eve dinner in Aubergine is just an additional £10 per person, while Christmas Day lunch carries a supplement of £45 for a sumptuous five-course feast including a glass of champagne to start.
After breakfast on Boxing Day, guests on the three-night package can enjoy a day of leisure exploring the local area before returning to the hotel for a three course dinner.
Prices for a Compleat Angler Christmas break start from £335 per person for two nights and £415 for three nights in a classic double/twin room including meals and entertainment, while guests wishing to stay additional nights pay from just £78 per person for dinner, B&B.
Upgrades available for river facing rooms and suites. Children aged five to twelve pay 50% of the adult price when sharing with their parents and under 5s stay free.
