Daihatsu appoints new dealer - Alexandra Cars

18th May 2009 Print
Daihatsu’s plan to increase dealer development continues to move forward with the appointment of Alexandra Cars, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Established in 2009, the North Shields family-owned dealer employs more than 10 staff and will offer a full range of new and used Daihatsu products from their bright, warm and welcoming purpose-built showroom.

David Lewins, Dealer Principal, said: “Motor trading has never been so volatile, but as a new franchise of a company synonymous with producing cost-effective, durable, reliable and fun vehicles, we are well placed to create a dedicated following, and at the same time attract new business.”

Paul Hegarty, Operations Director, Daihatsu Vehicle Distributors Ltd. said: “Global environmental issues, social changes, and shifts in consumer values are all combining to put compact cars in the spotlight. Since Daihatsu was established in 1907, we have been focused on compact cars. Big is not better anymore. Rather, small is smart. Our cars are friendly to the environment as well as being people friendly. As a company we aim to become the world’s leading compact car manufacturer.”

The Coleshill-based importer signed up 20 new dealers during 2008 and currently boasts 98 UK showrooms.

Meanwhile, Daihatsu’s participation in the scrappage scheme means that it’s never been a better time to buy.
