Vauxhall’s all-new Movano has been awarded the prestigious honour of Van of the Year 2011 by What Van?, Britain’s most popular commercial vehicle magazine.

The versatile Movano also scooped the Large Panel Van of the Year gong, beating off competition from a number of commercial vehicle competitors.

“The Vauxhall Movano is a massively impressive piece of kit and a very worthy winner of the top What Van? award,” said Paul Barker, What Van? Editor.  “The leap in cabin design and quality in particular set the Movano apart, and the huge quantity of variants, including the very welcome new rear-wheel drive alternative, mean What Van? choosing the excellent new Movano as our 2011 Van of the Year was an easy and much-deserved selection.”

Steve Bryant, Brand Manager Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles, said: “Vauxhall has been extremely successful at this year’s What Van? Awards and we’re delighted New Movano is double award-winner, taking overall Van of the Year and the Large Panel Van of the Year title.  We look forward to extending the Movano range further in 2010.”

The new Movano was launched in May 2010 propelling Vauxhall into new segments of the market with the addition of rear-wheel drive, gross vehicle weights up to 4.5 tonnes and a longer L4 load length.  Movano also offers class-leading cabin ergonomics and cargo space, and new powertrains with low operating costs.

Vauxhall is the largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in the UK, building over 60,000 vehicles this year at its plants in Luton, Bedfordshire and Ellesmere Port, Cheshire to date.
