South Midlands home buyers have been sharing what makes them tick when it comes to interior design – and it’s helped shape two new show homes in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

When asked to rate the importance of a show home when choosing a new property, the overwhelming consensus was that it was a “very important” tool in their decision-making process and was often what ‘sold’ the development to them.

South Midlands homebuyers also said they needed a show home to help them to visualise themselves in the space. Many stated the designers’ vision gave them ideas for a “different way of living”.

Stand out features for the focus group included the floor to ceiling wall of kitchen units and the double fronted style of the homes, which evoked memories of their childhood homes.

Many of the observations have already been put into practice at Redrow’s Priory Gardens venture in St Neots, where two fully-furnished show homes are now open for visitors. Factors such as the importance of making the show homes reflect the way real people live their lives have been an influence; so the designers have included plenty of storage options and full size beds in every room.

The three-bedroom ‘Broadway’ and the four-bedroom ‘Stratford’ show homes are part of the acclaimed New Heritage Collection, which combines ‘Arts and Crafts’ influenced traditional exteriors with stylish, ultra-modern interiors.

Tonia Tyler, area sales manager for Redrow Home (South Midlands), said: “Obviously meeting our customers’ needs is of paramount importance, and it is what we have strived to do with our New Heritage Collection homes at Priory Gardens from the very beginning of the design process. However, the focus groups have enabled us to find out exactly what made our new customers choose our product and also shown us how we can make them even better in the future.

“For example the term ‘practical living’ was mentioned several times. Customers want a home that is both beautiful and functional at the same time and brings the family together. This is something we have tried to portray with all our new show homes and now we will ensure this is something we continue to do as it’s exactly what our customers want to see.”

Tonia added: “As well as learning so much from the focus groups, we also have received some validation for the way we have developed our New Heritage Collection to date and discovered we have been meeting the high expectations our customers have of their Redrow homes.”

Priory Gardens is a luxury phase of two, three and four-bedroom family homes at Loves Farm, on the edge of St Neots.

Prices of The New Heritage Collection homes currently start from £159,950 for a two-bedroom Evesham to £304,950 for a four-bedroom Cambridge.

St Neots is Cambridgeshire’s largest town and a place rich in history, culture and charm, with great links to Bedford and Cambridge. The development is within walking distance of the train station, from where you can travel to London’s Kings Cross in only 60 minutes.

Priory Gardens is also very close to the Great River Ouse, Paxton Pits Nature Reserve and Riverside Park, whilst the town centre offers many shops, restaurants and entertainment venues.

To see Redrow’s New Heritage Collection show homes visit Priory Gardens, open daily from 10am to 5.30pm.
