Bellway on the hunt for more 'Scot-land'

The Scottish Land Buying team at Bellway Homes is celebrating the completion of its latest major land deal in Scotland this year, with the contract to buy a 5 acre site in Gartcosh, Lanarkshire.
The deal follows Bellway transactions earlier this year for land in Motherwell and in Dalkeith, Midlothian.
Against the backdrop of a very tough year for the UK house building sector, the hat-trick of purchases represents a significant achievement for Bellway’s three-man Land team in Scotland: Willie McDermott (Land Director), Arthur Mann (Land Manager) and Mike Tomlinson (Land & Partnership Manager) all of whom joined Bellway within the last 12 months.
“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to hit the ground running and make a real contribution to the growth of Bellway’s business in Scotland with these three deals,” said Willie McDermott.
In contrast to the tough times being felt elsewhere in the house-building market, Bellway are on the hunt for more Scottish land for their award-winning housing developments.
Willie McDermott said: “Bellway is in a very strong financial position with the group returning to profit and we have substantial funds available to secure appropriate opportunities.
“By contrast, 2010 has been a tough year for a lot of individuals and organisations and, as a result, many are looking for ways to generate additional revenue.
“I’d recommend that anyone who owns development land, derelict buildings or brownfield sites such as old factories or storage yards - or those who own greenfield land within or on the edge of villages, towns and cities – to get in touch with me or a member of my team here at Bellway.”
Willie continued: “You may have a valuable commodity on your hands. Contact us and we may be able to help you by realising the value of your property. Our team of land experts can advise you quickly whether your asset has development potential, so there’s very little effort required on the part of the land owner.
“It could be the best call you make all year!”
