Put an end to Christmas travel misery in Windermere

Holidaymakers whose travel plans have been blighted by the freezing Arctic blast that has gripped the UK are being offered a huge discount on a winter wonderland festive break in the Lake District.
The freezing temperatures and snow storms that have closed major airports in the south of England, as well as disrupting services such as the Eurostar, have ruined travel plans for thousands.
Now people are being encouraged to salvage their holidays by looking closer to home and taking advantage of a fantastic offer to enjoy a traditional Christmas at the four-star Lindeth Howe hotel, near Windermere.
Stephen Broughton, managing director of Lindeth Howe, said: “It has been awful to see the television pictures all those people stuck at the airports for days, or queuing in the streets for the Eurostar.
“Many people, whose travel plans have been thwarted, will not have got a turkey or any other festive food in and, if they are not able to complete their travel plans, could be facing a miserable Christmas at home.
“We would like to give people the chance to salvage their Christmas by offering them a huge discount to enjoy a traditional Christmas house party with us. The Lake District is looking amazing at the moment and we would love to be able to show people how beautiful it is here this time of year.”
Although enjoying a dusting of snow, the Lake District has escaped the worst of the weather and the iconic fells are now looking their best and provide a stunning backdrop to a winter getaway.
The Lindeth Howe hotel, a former home of world-famous author Beatrix Potter, is offering couples, whose travel plans have been blighted, four nights in a superior room with dinner, bed and breakfast for £995 – a discount of around 30 per cent.
This package also includes a mystery tour of the area on Christmas Eve, a cruise on Windermere on Boxing Day and live music with dinner one evening.
The Lindeth Howe boasts two AA Rosettes for the quality of its cuisine from the internationally recognised Automobile Association, as well as the top national Gold Award for quality from Visit Britain – the UK’s tourism authority.
