If you are a fan of cycling gentle, scenic routes on virtually traffic-free roads, escaping to a French country idyll and discovering the delights of fabulous French food, then look no further. French cycling tour specialist, Lot Cycling Holidays, places the emphasis very much on leisure and relaxation with great food to enjoy at the end of the day.

One of the main features of the holiday is the gourmet evening meals, inspired by and prepared from the wide range of local produce, such as duck and lamb, wild mushrooms, walnuts, figs and truffles plus Roquefort and Rocamadour cheeses. Meals are accompanied by plenty of the local ‘black wine’ of Cahors as the Lot is home to the original Malbec grape and included in the cycling itinerary are visits to local vineyards dotted along either side of the river Lot.

Accommodation is at a converted 18th century barn set in the heart of the rolling countryside of the Bouriane, midway between the rivers Lot and Dordogne. Owners Aileen and John Despard run the business, having moved to France in 2006 after finding the perfect setting at Mas de Flory. They spent a year or so renovating the farmhouse and converting the barn and now enjoy sharing their dream with cycle tour guests.

In 2011 the Lot Valley, Vistas and Villages cycling tours will take place on various dates between May 15th and September 18th.

The 7 day holidays are priced from £1,195 per person, to include six nights accommodation with breakfasts, all evening meals with wine to gourmet standard, bike hire, routes and maps and full cycling support, plus transfers to and from Gourdon rail station or Bergerac airport, as required. A feature of Lot Cycling Holidays is that there is no Single Supplement charge.
