Post Office Travel Insurance to freeze prices

30th December 2010 Print

With not only VAT, but also Insurance Premium Tax being increased on 4 January 2011, Post Office Travel Insurance has today announced that it will be freezing the price of its single trip and annual policies until 27 March 2011, giving customers an extra three months to purchase travel insurance at pre-tax increase prices.

Customers can buy a single trip policy up to two years in advance, so those who buy before 27 March can lock into lower cost travel insurance for a holiday as far in advance as 2013. Annual multi-trip policies purchased before this date will also offer cover for up to 60 days in advance at the reduced rate.

Rachel Croft, Head of Post Office Travel Insurance said: “The beginning of January is traditionally one of the busiest times for people to search for holiday bargains for the coming year, and of course many people are now trying to book their trips before the increase in VAT takes place.  We’ve decided to help our customers get the best deal from their travel insurance by not passing on the Insurance Premium tax increase and freezing our prices for an extra three months.”

The Post Office is one of the UK’s largest independent travel insurance providers and was recently voted Best Travel Insurance Provider for the fifth year running at the 2010 British Travel Awards.

Policy prices start from as little as £16.25 for a 7 day single trip adult in Europe and £39.60 for an annual multi-trip adult in Europe.

Post Office Travel Insurance policies offer a Kids Go Free option for dependent children under the age of 18. This offer is valid if the child is going on holiday with a parent, grandparent, guardian, aunt or uncle who is a Post Office Travel Insurance policy holder. Post Office Travel Insurance also has a Premium policy with financial failure cover for end supplier failure so , if your hotel or car hire company at your destination becomes insolvent and doesn’t have ATOL protection, you’ll be covered for up to £1,500. The policy also includes scheduled airline failure and offers more comprehensive personal belongings and cancellation cover.
