4th January 2011 Print

Yorkshire Building Society has been recognised for the fantastic products it offers for young savers by being awarded Best Youth Savings Account award at the Moneywise Children's Savings Awards 2011 for its Freedom account.

The Society was also Highly Commended in the Best Children's Savings Account category for its One Day account.

The Moneywise Children's Savings Awards are the only UK awards that take a complete look at financial products for children and set a benchmark for achievement based on performance, consistency and choice.

Sarah Lawrence, Yorkshire's Senior Product Manager for Savings commented: "The Freedom and One Day accounts are part of our competitive range of products designed to encourage young people to get into the savings habit from an early age, and we're delighted to be recognised in the Moneywise Children's Savings Awards."

The Freedom account is available for young people aged 12 to 20 and can be opened with as little as £10.  The account carries the option of having an ATM card where parents can set a monthly withdrawal limit for account holders under the age of 18, helping young savers to manage their finances.  Young savers can earn 1.75% AER and interest is paid annually.

The Award is the latest in a string of accolades received by the Yorkshire during 2010, including the Moneywise Best ISA Service Provider and What Mortgage Best National Building Society.

The Freedom and One Day accounts are available at all the Yorkshire's 135 branches and 85 agencies.  For more information visit ybs.co.uk.
