Egg offers 20% discount for travel insurance in January

10th January 2011 Print

Throughout January, Egg will be offering a 20 per cent discount on travel insurance bought online, (and 10 per cent on cover bought over the phone).

Egg's travel insurance includes:

Free cover for children when they travel with the insured.
Unlimited eligible medical expenses cover.
24/7 Personal Assistance service.
Winter sports cover option available.

The Winter sports option includes:

Equipment cover
Unused ski pass and tuition cover (due to injury or lost or stolen pass)
Lack of snow cover

Nic Brown, Head of Revenue Products at Egg said; "This discount is our small way of helping people against the current trend in travel insurance price increases.  We want to encourage people to buy travel insurance when travelling abroad and not cut back on this essential protection.  Last year, the industry saw high levels of exposure due to industrial action, bad weather and bankruptcy, which has led to many providers upping their core pricing along with the Insurance Premium Tax increase - so a double whammy for the customer!   At Egg, we are not passing on the cost of these claims onto our customers and have introduced a significant reduction on our usual prices during January, to ease the financial strain for those travelling abroad this year"

Egg travel insurance also covers curtailment or rearrangement costs, for a number circumstances, including flights being cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, industrial action or mechanical breakdown.
