Hive, the second building at Masshouse in Eastside, has been released to the market by developer, Nikal.

Part of the £600m mixed-use Masshouse scheme in Birmingham’s Eastside, Hive brings an exciting and innovative new collection of 167 studio, one and two bedroom apartments to the city centre, within walking distance of the Bullring and Colmore Business District.

The first phase of properties released for sale and ready for occupation in March, includes studios and one bedroom apartments in a choice of layouts, with prices starting from £90,000.

Simon James, sales director for Hive commented: “We are delighted to be beginning 2011 with the release of the first phase of properties at Hive, a declaration of our confidence in Birmingham’s resurgent property market. With no other developer releasing new build stock in the city centre, we are not only addressing the growing demand for new build apartments but also bringing a development that is fresh and exciting to Birmingham.

“At Hive each property has been designed to take account of its aspect, elevation and size, creating homes that project individuality and character. Buyers here can also select properties on the upper levels that offer stunning views across the cityscape, a luxury that previously has only been afforded by penthouse purchasers in Birmingham.”

A confident declaration of design led living, Hive combines the best in contemporary design with chic finishes and designer specifications. Apartments available include indoor and outdoor living space, with a private urban garden also being offered for residents’ enjoyment. An air of exclusivity exudes throughout all communal areas with properties also benefitting from secure basement parking. All properties at Hive are powered by Birmingham District Energy Company (BDEC) – the first time residential homes in the city have benefitted from the city’s district water heating system.

“Powering homes through Birmingham District Energy Company is another example of how we have taken a fresh approach towards delivering residential homes for the future at Hive,” added Simon James. “The BDEC supply will eliminate boiler maintenance concerns and reduce utility bills for residents, while also ensuring Hive’s green credentials, something we were committed to delivering as a responsible developer.

“Hive is a truly innovative new development for Birmingham and one which has already stimulated much interest from private purchasers, investors and those keen to be the first to rent properties here. Now released to the market, we anticipate phase one properties will be snapped up swiftly.”

Paul Spooner, executive director for the Homes and Communities Agency, Midlands, which invested £7.3m to enable the Hive development to restart during the tough economic climate said; “Despite challenging conditions Masshouse has continued to deliver much-needed new homes in the city and offers innovative, high quality city centre apartments. We are confident that this latest phase, Hive, will be popular, completing a successful scheme for Masshouse Developments Ltd and the HCA.”

A marketing suite and two show homes are due to open at Hive on 1 February. Hive is located at Masshouse Plaza, Moor Street Queensway, Birmingham B5 5JE. For further information on properties for sale at Hive, visit: hive-birmingham.co.uk
