Go-ahead for new homes in Horsham

Countryside Properties has secured a resolution to grant outline planning consent from Horsham District Council for the development of land south of Broadbridge Heath, near Horsham in West Sussex.
The resolution covers a sustainable new neighbourhood that includes 963 predominantly family homes of all tenures which will contribute significantly towards housing provision in the district. There will also be enhanced access to open space and recreational opportunities for existing and new residents.
The overall development will provide land for a new primary school and the potential expansion of the Leisure Centre, a neighbourhood centre comprising: a doctors’ surgery; flexible business/retail units; parish office and a restaurant/public house. There will be high quality open space including formal sports pitches and a pavilion with changing facilities, allotments, equipped play areas and youth facilities including multi-use games areas, open access ball courts and a skate park.
John Oldham, Director and Group Chief Town Planner for Countryside Properties, says: “We are delighted that we now have the green light to proceed. These plans will provide a valuable boost to the area with much needed new family housing. We are confident that this development can be brought to fruition within a reasonable timescale.
“We are also planning to build the new homes and community facilities to high levels of environmental sustainability, while sustainable travel will be made easier by the provision of a high quality bus service and enhanced pedestrian/cycle and equestrian routes with attractive and safe road crossing opportunities. As a whole our plans will maximise the potential for integration with the existing community of Broadbridge Heath.”
