Unmissable walking holidays in Britain

21st January 2011 Print

HF Holidays, which arranges walking holidays for 50,000 people a year, has launched a new type of break called 'Unmissable Britain'.

The organisation wants to open up the British countryside - where it owns country houses in spectacular locations - to new audiences and offer existing guests a wider choice of activities.

"Our guests appreciate the access we provide to the beautiful countryside and exceptional heritage that we have in Britain," says Chief Executive Brian Smith.

"These new holidays offer much more flexibility, combining the guided walks for which we are famous with other ways to discover Britain, from thrilling outdoor activities to exploring heritage sites and tasting local food."

"We have also developed Unmissable Britain holidays to attract younger guests, as well as guests from urban communities and diverse cultural backgrounds - plus overseas guests," adds Smith.

Unmissable Britain holidays are offered at HF Holidays' country houses in the Scottish Highlands, Exmoor, the Cotswolds, the Welsh Borders, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.

There's a daily choice of activities, including a guided walk. Transport to local activity providers and places of interest is included, along with full board - highlighting local food and drink - and sociable evenings.

The best of Britain's scenery is on offer during guided walks such the ascent of Ben Nevis from HF Holidays' Alltshellach house or following the South West Coast Path to Ilfracombe while based at Holnicote House, the Exmoor location.

White-water rafting, jeep safaris and mountain biking are among the activities available, with gentler pursuits such as boat trips and bird-watching, plus visits to historic houses or even tickets to cultural events - depending on the location.

Unmissable Britain holidays are available for three, four, six and seven nights on a range of dates between May and October.

Prices start at £269 per person (twin share) for a three-night break. Non-members (HF Holidays is a co-operative organisation) pay an associate fee of £5 per holiday.

All holidays include comfortable, en-suite accommodation, full board, all guided walks and all transport to/from activity locations. Because of the degree of flexibility offered, the cost of individual activities and entrance fees is not included and are payable when booking or while on holiday.
