Pop the question somewhere exotic this Valentine's Day

25th January 2011 Print

As Valentine's Day falls on a Monday this year, die-hard romantics have the perfect opportunity to whisk their loved one away for a long weekend.

Whether to explore ancient wonders, relax on the beach or experience the world's top casinos, Hayes & Jarvis has come up with four far-flung ideas for a romantic break - as well as some top tips for unusual places to pop the question!

BEACH, SNOW, DESERT AND SHOPPING
For the partner who wants it all, H&J suggests a weekend in Dubai. It's a destination of extremes, where couples can go 'dune bashing' in the desert, ski at the world's largest indoor snow park, indulge in a spot of shopping at the souks and malls or simply relax by the beach. Departing on Saturday 12 February, a four-night break at the four-star Amwaj Rotana Jumeirah Beach costs £739 per person - a saving of 18 per cent (£158pp) including B&B accommodation, Gulf Air flights from London Heathrow and transfers.
POP THE QUESTION... on Dubai's first ski slope then celebrate with a drink on the beach.

WONDER AT THE ANCIENT WORLD
Take your partner to see the oldest of the seven wonders of the ancient world on a short break to Egypt. Visit bustling downtown Cairo to explore the colourful bazaars then stay minutes away from the Great Pyramids of Giza at the four-star Pyramids Park. H&J has knocked 15 per cent off the price of a four-night break from Friday 11 February, so a Valentine's weekend now costs £599 per person (saving £106pp), including B&B accommodation, KLM flights from London Heathrow and transfers.
POP THE QUESTION... inside the Great Pyramid.

FIVE-STAR FAR EAST
Couples looking for the ultimate far-flung luxury this Valentine's Day can save 31 per cent on a five-star break to Hong Kong and Macau. Shop-til-you-drop with two nights room-only at the Harbour Grand Hong Kong then spend two nights (B&B) at The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel in Macau, where UNESCO- protected monuments stand side-by-side with sleek modern casinos. Departing on Thursday 10 February, a four-night break costs £699 per person (saving £314pp), including Jet Airways flights from Heathrow and transfers.
POP THE QUESTION... in one of the casinos of the 'Las Vegas of the East'.

GLITZ, GLAMOUR AND NATURAL WONDERS
Whisk a loved one away to glitzy Las Vegas to soak up the atmosphere of Nevada's 24/7 city and maybe even check out the wedding chapels to tie the knot on Valentine's Day! As well as world-class casinos, shows and shopping, there is also the opportunity to treat that someone special to a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon. H&J is offering 20 per cent off a four-night break at the five-star Vdara at CityCenter - an all-suite non-gaming hotel in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip - now available for £699 per person (saving £180pp), including room-only accommodation and Continental Airlines flights from Heathrow on Friday 11 February.
