Culinary master classes in Lavenham

Join a themed Culinary Master Class at the iconic 15th century Swan Hotel at Lavenham, Suffolk and discover how two AA rosette head chef David Ryan creates some of his superb dishes.

Held on the last Thursday of every month, the inspirational classes are priced at just £39.95 per person including a two-course lunch in the Gallery Restaurant with a glass of wine and coffee.

Arrive at 10.30am, chat to David over coffee and homemade biscuits and then watch his cookery demonstration, which will include taste samplings, workshop notes and recipes to take home and try yourself. A Master Chef of Great Britain, David's distinctive style focuses on modern British cuisine with exciting French undertones.

Themes for this year's classes include Best of Suffolk (24 February); Fabulous Fish (24 March); Spring is in the Air (28 April) and Mediterranean Cooking (26th May). Those later in the year include Barbecue Time; Stress Free Dinner Parties; Far Eastern Cookery and Italian Classics.

After lunch you can take a leisurely stroll around the medieval streets of Lavenham, admire the many beautiful 15th and 16th century buildings and browse the boutiques and galleries. Make a night of it and stay in one of The Swan's character bedrooms from £180 for two sharing, B&B. Steeped in history, the hotel has served as a hostelry for nearly 600 years, today ancient oak beams and inglenook fireplaces blend with rich furnishings and modern luxuries.
