Bermuda to host PGA Grand Slam of Golf until 2012

Bermuda will host the 29th and 30th editions of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, the season-ending showcase that boasts the most difficult qualification requirement in the game - a major championship.

Bermuda and Port Royal Golf Course are joined by the Fairmont Southampton, which will be the official hotel for the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in 2011 and 2012.

The PGA Grand Slam of Golf features a $1.35 million prize, with the winner receiving $600,000; second place $300,000; third place $250,000; and fourth place $200,000. Previous PGA Grand Slam Champions include: Ernie Els, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Els, Tom Lehman, Ben Crenshaw, Greg Norman and Nick Price.

Bermuda's Minister of Business Development and Tourism, the Hon. Patrice K. Minors JP, MP said, "Bermuda is thrilled to once again be hosting the PGA Grand Slam of Golf. Port Royal Golf Course - described by late architect Robert Trent Jones Sr, as his finest design outside the United States - is a public course that opened for play in 1970, and underwent a $13.7 million renovation completed in 2009, extending the par-71 layout to 6,842 yards.
