Alliance Trust Savings most popular funds in 2010
Alliance Trust Savings has published the 20 most popular funds purchased from its i.nvest platform for 2010.
The i.nvest platform offering was strengthened in 2010 and now offers over 1,400 funds. The majority of funds available have no initial charge and any fund commissions received from fund providers are rebated in full back to a customer's account.
The top 20 buys, based on gross fund inflows in 2010, illustrate the diversity of the funds available through the i.nvest platform. Vanguard funds feature heavily in the top 20. This is not surprising as the i.nvest platform is one of the very few platforms to offer Vanguard funds which can have annual management charges (amcs) of as low as 0.15%. The i.nvest platform can offer the Vanguard funds as unlike some other platforms it is not dependent on receiving commission from the fund provider.
Alliance Trust Asset Management's Monthly Income bond was only launched in 2010 but has already proven very popular with Alliance Trust Savings customers, so much so that the fund was the third most popular choice in 2010. The fourth most popular fund, Standard Life Investments Global Absolute Return Strategies fund has recently waived the 0.50% initial charge which is likely to add to the fund's popularity.
Overall the top 20 funds in 2010 illustrate the diversity of the funds choices available through i.nvest from tracker and bond funds to property funds.
