Home seekers opt to buy not rent at popular Blenheim Park

10th February 2011 Print

Visitors to one of the region’s most popular developments are discovering that buying a brand new home makes more financial sense than renting in the area.

Blenheim Park in Tangmere offers an exciting selection of new homes – including a number of outstanding two bedroom apartments. And now the sought-after David Wilson Homes development is making it easier than ever for first time buyers to enter the property market.

“For many, buying a home for the first time seems like an impossible dream,” said David Wilson Homes sales director, Mark Docherty. “But it isn’t. We want to show that it can be done. In fact, with our special shared equity scheme, it makes more sense to take that first step onto the property ladder than it does to rent a similar home nearby.”

One scheme offered by David Wilson Homes, to help ease the financial burden for first time buyers, is Head Start. This is a shared equity scheme that allows buyers at Blenheim Park to secure a home for just 85 per cent of the asking price. The remaining 15 per cent is funded through a deferred David Wilson Homes loan. And buyers don’t have to pay this until the home is sold again or in ten years, whichever is sooner.

“This means, for example, that one of our two bedroom apartments in the Kew House building at Blenheim Park, costing £170,000, can be secured for a monthly outlay of around £770,” said Mark.

The apartment, with its two double bedrooms, comes with its own parking and is the perfect size for a single person or a couple. It features a fully fitted kitchen that links directly with a combined living and dining area – ideal for all kinds of dining occasions. The master bedroom comes complete with modern en suite facilities and this spacious apartment also comes with ample storage space.

“This is a great way to secure a dream home,” said Mark. “So often, first time buyers settle on a home that doesn’t excite them at all – simply because they can afford it,” said Mark. “We want to change that because it takes a lot of work to take that first step and if we can help to make it possible then we will.”

Blenheim Park is situated in Tangmere – just outside Chichester. Close enough to all the amenities the city has to offer, the development also provides the perfect base from which to explore the surrounding countryside.

“This area is steeped in history,” said Mark. “It is where the RAF station played a pivotal role in the Battle of Britain and is now home to the Tangmere Aviation Museum. And Blenheim Park is certainly proving to be an attraction in itself to buyers looking to settle here.”

For those looking put down roots in West Sussex, the area has much to offer. Half of the county is designated an Area of Outstanding Beauty. It is covered in acres of green countryside and has miles of spectacular coastline, with some of the finest walking the nation has to offer.

The development offers an ideal base for commuters as the A27 is minutes away, offering an easy commute to Gatwick, Brighton and Portsmouth.

Nearby Chichester provides a wealth of special events throughout the year and its harbour is a haven for yachting enthusiasts.
