Coronation Street star to open Moss Side show homes

Katherine Kelly 'Becky' from Coronation Street is to open the show homes on Saturday 26 February.

Coronation Street star Katherine Kelly, who plays Becky McDonald in the famous soap, will see a street designed for the 21st century, when she opens the three show homes at ‘Infusion’ in Moss Side on Saturday 26 February.

The launch event will unveil the stylish interior design treatments on the new show homes at this innovative Moss Side project which marks the start of the housing led regeneration of the Bowes Street area, off Princess Road.

The celebrity event will focus on Moss Side’s vibrant history and its contribution to the cultural life of Manchester. There will be guest appearances by filmmaker Karen Gabay whose film ‘Memories of Moss Side and Hulme’ will be playing at the opening. Author Joe Pemberton, who grew up in Moss Side in the 1960s, and musician Barry Adamson who’s recent works include his debut album ‘Moss Side Story’ are also making guest appearances. ‘Fancy Faces’ face painting artist Olivia will be entertaining children, making it a family friendly event.

Bringing together an infusion of talent provides an inspiring platform for the launch of this groundbreaking development by Manchester City Council in partnership with Miller Homes and GB Building Solutions. The project is funded by the Homes and Communities Agency.

The largest of the three show homes is the Rowan. This 4-bedroom terraced house includes an integral garage, a large, square SieMatic designed kitchen with an island unit and a spacious open plan living room/dining room. Its beautifully equipped bathroom and en-suite feature Italian floor to ceiling tiles. The master bedroom is one of two bedrooms that lead out to a covered balcony.

“This renovated and converted Victorian family home now has a new life. Whilst outwardly retaining the charm and character of the Victorian terraced the inside has been totally reworked to make a thoroughly modern, energy efficient home,” says Carolyn Walsh, Miller Homes Project Leader: “The flexible floor plans and cool contemporary interior design treatment from city centre interior designers ‘No Chintz’, brings classic style right up to date in a family home. It also shows how the desire to buy local can produce the stylish interior design package of the show homes.”

Carolyn said: “With Sun-Pipes, stainless steel kitchen appliance package and stainless steel socket and light switches throughout, secure by design doors and windows, slate kitchen floor tiles, plus oak internal doors and stairs too, to some properties. The show homes showcase the truly remarkable specification that just has to be seen, to be believed. But much of what will make these homes wonderful is hidden – the insulation that makes them warm, the efficient appliances and the superb heating system. These homes are setting the standards in the North West that is creating a buzz about Infusion.”

Also launched will be a 2-bedroom Oak show home. Ideal for couples and first time buyers, and a 3-bedroom Elm. Its superb redesign makes this a fantastic home for young families.

“This is a really exciting project,” Carolyn added: “The prices are competitive, starting from just £99,950. With the Manchester Council’s shared equity scheme, in which qualified buyers need pay from just 70% of the price now, home ownership at Infusion could cost as little as £69,965 now*.”
