Hix & Buck pop-up Parisian wine bar returns to Streatham
Following a number of appearances in Streatham last summer, a south London-based wine importer has announced return dates for of its popular pop-up Parisian-style wine bar and shop.
227 Streatham High Road (opposite Morrisons and Streatham Station) is to be the venue that will be open in February and March.
The premises are being made available by Frances Strachan, the owner of Streatham’s Hideway Jazz Club that also serves Hix & Buck wines. Customers will be able to taste, drink by the glass or bottle, or buy for the home Hix & Buck’s exclusive new range of award winning wines. Those purchasing a case (6 bottles) of wine at the pop-up for home consumption will receive a 2 for 1 entry voucher to the Hideaway and a 20 per cent discount on selected wines bought at the pop-up shop. Local delivery is free.
Streatham MP Chuka Umunna, who grew up locally, will officially open the temporary wine bar & shop on Tuesday 24th February and give a short address (at 7.30pm) talking about how local business initiatives are helping to regenerate the area.
On the first night, the bar will open at 6pm, but will remain open from midday until midnight on all the other days.
“We’ve been asked by customers when we were having our next pop-up, ever since the last one,” said Hix & Bucks’ Commercial Director, Chix Chandaria, added, “It’s very kind of Frances to offer us the premises and I hope the example of utilising shops which are temporarily empty between leases will encourage other would be entrepreneurs and landlords to test market business ideas in a similar fashion.”
Hideaway, the Jazz Club will be providing canapés for opening night and a daily menu featuring a charcuterie and cheese boards, fish and veggie plat du jour. Hix & Buck will also be serving a bubbly brunch from 12-3pm. This will include croissants, pain au chocolat and smoked salmon bagels freshly prepared on the premises.
Ticketed tastings begin at 5pm and cost £5 (£3.50 in advance from hixandbuck.com), which includes a tasting of 4 wines.

Local artists whose paintings will adorn the pop-up walls are - Jiro Osuga, Emma Condliffe, Carlos Dominguez and Tom Norman.
