Homebuyers in the market for a new family home with a more traditional style will find plenty of choice at Redrow’s waterside development in Heybridge, near Maldon.

The award-winning housebuilder has now sold more than 70 homes at The Lakes, which enjoys a sought after location surrounded by water on three sides. There are beautiful views of the River Blackwater and the development is close to the scenic Heybridge Basin.

It’s a part of Essex that’s always been popular with London holiday makers, day trippers and retirees, and is also a great place for families to set up home.

The remaining homes include a selection from Redrow’s New Heritage Collection, with designs externally influenced by the ‘Arts and Crafts’ era. All homes boast the same high quality interior specification to meet the needs of modern lifestyles.

Stylish kitchen and bathroom choices plus the calibre of fixtures and fittings also sets them apart from older, second hand counterparts in the area, which could require costly renovation to bring them up to the same standard.

Four and five-bedroom detached homes are priced from £399,950. New Heritage Collection homes start from £479,950, including many with views of the canal and nature reserve.

Beryl Williams, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Eastern), said: “Our homes all feature convivial open plan living spaces, fashionable kitchen designs with floor to ceiling units, central islands and top brand name appliances, plus bathrooms that are sleek, modern and pleasing to the eye.

“These modern interiors beat second hand homes hands down when it comes to stylish, practical layouts, being energy efficiency and easy to maintain. We’ve calculated it could cost more than £30,000 to bring a second hand home up to the same standard,” Beryl said.

Part exchange could be an option for those with an existing property to sell. It means Redrow will effectively act as cash buyer for their existing home, in many cases making an offer on their house within just 48 hours. They won’t have to worry about estate agent’s fees or getting stuck in a complicated housing chain.

The Lakes is close to Maldon, with its quality shopping, dining and leisure facilities, and nearby Mill Beach is a popular holiday destination for many people. The development is also great for commuters who can reach Chelmsford in just half an hour, and, from there, London in another 35 minutes by train.
