The housing market in West Sussex received a timely boost today when the region’s leading upmarket housebuilder said it would be opening another new site this year.

David Wilson Homes plans to start work on the development comprising 35 new homes before the end of 2011. The developments have a total sales value of £9m and provide further evidence that the high end property market in Hampshire is likely to outperform some other parts of the country.

“Many househunters think that now is a good time to buy because prices are lower than in 2007 and interest rates are historically low. We believe that this will help sustain the local housing market whatever happens to the national economy,” said Mark Docherty, sales director at David Wilson Homes.

“We would not be making this significant commitment to the market in this area unless we were confident about its prospects in the medium-term.”

“By building these developments we will be bringing new jobs to the area. We will also be creating well-designed, competitively-priced new homes which local people need.”
