Don't rely on the luck of the Irish this St Patrick's Day

15th March 2011 Print

Revellers heading to Dublin for the St Patrick’s Festival will be gearing up for a weekend of culture and craic, fuelled by plenty of Guinness and Irish whiskey.

However, leading travel insurance website insurewithease.com, is reminding travellers to make sure they don’t have too much to drink, leaving them at risk of avoidable accidents.

The Dublin St Patrick’s Festival runs from 16 to 20 March and includes film, music and entertainment, plus a parade, street performers and comedy. Dublin offers Brits the perfect short city break opportunity and St Patrick’s Day is a highlight on the Irish calendar. But with the alcohol flowing, insurewithease.com urges travellers to use some common sense to ensure they don’t invalidate their insurance and end up facing a hefty medical bill.

“We want to ensure our customers have a fantastic St Patrick’s Day, however it is easy for revellers to get carried away, leaving them more susceptible to accidents,” says Sarah Findlay, Marketing Manager for insurewithease.com. “Unfortunately the realities are that if an accident occurs as a direct result of excessive drinking, or drug taking, then this is likely to invalidate their travel insurance. We want to look after our customers as well as possible, but they must recognise that they have to take responsibility for their actions.”

“It’s always good to be able to let your hair down, but throwing caution to the wind could cost travellers dear, even on short weekend breaks. We urge people to make sure they know their alcohol limits and stick to them, so that they can enjoy the festivities without any unnecessary accidents.
