Manufacturers throng to biggest-ever Motorexpo

Motorexpo, the UK’s biggest free-to-visit motoring event, is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever this summer. A record number of manufacturers have already signed up, and the remaining areas within the newly-expanded Canary Wharf exhibition space are going fast.
The roster for the 2011 event – taking place between 6 and 12 June – is brimming with leading mainstream and prestige car manufacturers. Exhibitors already confirmed include Bentley, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Saab, Skoda, Tesla, Vauxhall and Volvo to name just a few.
Organisers are anticipating that around 400,000 visitors will attend the 2011 Canary Wharf London Motorexpo, making the seven-day event the biggest in a successful 15-year history. It’s the ideal platform for showcasing new vehicles, and over 250 cars will be on display and available for visitors to enjoy this June.
For participating manufacturers the quick and relatively low cost of stand building at the venue, as well as the ability to offer visitors test drives on the public and private roads around the venue, is a real boon. “Another draw for potential Motorexpo exhibitors is the knowledge that 82 percent of attendees don’t attend any other motoring-orientated event. This is the only opportunity to get in front of them. The 97-acre, privately-run Canary Wharf estate is a world-class destination, and also offers more than 200 shops, cafes and restaurants, so there really is something for everyone,” added Graeme Carver, Motorexpo CEO.
Participating manufacturers at previous events have praised the quality of the venue, the volume of spectator traffic, the facilities available to visitors and the number of quality leads available to sales teams. Speaking at the 2010 event, Marcus Wall, Experiential Marketing Manager at Jaguar Cars, said: “At Canary Wharf there is a high concentration of Jaguar customers and, more importantly, Jaguar prospects. As the event is free to enter, nobody is deterred from coming along, which gives us a great opportunity to showcase our newest cars that are only just entering showrooms.”
David Leighton from Saab GB said: “At Motorexpo we are able to display cars ahead of their official launch in a number-one location. We’ve attended for the past five years and we’ll keep coming back – it’s a great event.”
The 2011 London Motorexpo is completely free for all members of the public to attend. There are no tickets and no queues, with easy access to the event via one of the wide variety of transport options available. Visitors can take the bus, London Underground or Docklands Light Railway. Alternatively, there’s also space for 2,900 cars within Canary Wharf’s four underground public car parks.
Motorexpo is open daily from 10am to 6pm (Monday 6th to Saturday 11th) and 11am to 5pm on Sunday 12th June. Entry is free. Details on how to get there and information on the show is available at motorexpo.com.
