Take to the hills in North Yorkshire this spring

18th March 2011 Print

Stay at Swinton Park, the luxury castle hotel in the Yorkshire Dales, and explore the surrounding 20,000 acre Swinton Estate on the hotel’s new “Swinton Estate Rambler” package.

The Swinton Estate stretches from the River Ure in Wensleydale up onto the moorland dales, with a choice of suggested walks for guests ranging from a gentle river stroll to a circular day walk up onto the moors and back. This is a beautiful stretch of countryside with reservoirs and woodland, and working farming communities. It is less developed than the adjoining National Park and being off the beaten track offers more in the way of uncongested peace and quiet.

Attractions within the Estate include a Druid’s Temple folly on the moor edge, and several standing stones and druids seats within the parkland surrounding the hotel. The parkland also has five lakes and extensive gardens, including a restored four acre walled garden that produces over 60 varieties of fruit, herbs and vegetables for the kitchens for the hotel and cookery school.

The Swinton Estate Rambler package starts at £285 per room per night* and includes:

• accommodation with breakfast and dinner for two.
• a rucksack picnic to take with you on your walk (hamper delivery service to the moorland Bothy Hut available at extra charge)
• illustrated Swinton Estate walking guide
• an hour in our spa (with Jacuzzi and sauna) and a half hour Walker's Massage on return
