A hot tub with a view in the Lake District

21st March 2011 Print

The award winning Linthwaite House Hotel, set within 14 acres of spectacular wooded hilltop gardens and 400 feet above Lake Windermere in the Lake District, is the perfect retreat to relax, walk and soak up the views from one of its 30 guestrooms, in one of the most picturesque parts of England.

From spring 2011, with the love of the outdoors in mind, couples will be able to enjoy the lake view sunset vistas from the comfort and warmth of a new outdoor wooden hot tub.

Formerly an Edwardian private country house, Linthwaite offers a relaxed and unstuffy atmosphere where great service is delivered by staff who really care about the little touches. These touches are also reflected in the classic, yet contemporary interiors by designer Roberta Fulford. In 2009, she created the sumptuous Loft Suite with its retractable glass roof and spacious bathroom. The next phase of the development will see the upgrading and enlargement of four further guestrooms with more luxurious bathrooms and lounge areas. One of the rooms will have an outdoor seating area where guests will be able to relax with a coffee whilst taking in the fresh air and the other ground floor room will feature the private outdoor hot tub.

In the hotel grounds are gentle walks with strategically positioned seating spots, abundant wildlife and a beautiful tarn with its own summer house. For sporty guests, there is a putting and croquet lawn.

Mike Bevans, owner of Linthwaite commented:

“As a privately run hotel, we are always looking at ways to be more creative and innovative to make our guests’ experience at Linthwaite as special and personalised as possible. We are an ideal romantic getaway for couples and honeymooners and with the success of our sumptuous loft suite, our latest hot tub addition aims to enhance a stay with us even more.”

The award winning hotel received the coveted Condé Nast Johansens award for ‘Most Excellent Country House’ in 2007. It has recently been awarded 4 Red Stars by the AA and has just picked up a Visit England 4 star Gold Award for exceptional quality. It also boasts an award winning restaurant with 5/10 in the Good Food Guide and was voted 2011 winner of the CN Johansens Wine List of the Year. The restaurant provides a daily changing menu of mainly locally sourced dishes including Cartmel Valley Pigeon and Goosnargh duck. Chef, Richard Kearsley’s menus also include local cheeses, hand–churned butter, and Herdwick lamb.

Prices start from around £160 per person per night, on a dinner, room and breakfast basis, including four course table d’hôte menu, based on two sharing. The lead in price is £75 per person, per night.
