A new wave of homes at Vision in Plymouth

The first homes in the newest phase of the Vision development in Plymouth are now on sale.

With more than 100 homes now sold in total, Redrow has started work on a new zone as part of its redevelopment of the South Yard Stores Enclave in Plymouth.

Among the homes in the latest wave are a collection of three and four-bedroom contemporary townhouses, with a sought after position overlooking the Central Gardens along Mill Road.

They are a great option for families looking to be part of a regeneration project that is changing the face of the community. Many are available to purchase with easi:buy, giving purchasers the option to defer a portion of the payment to a time when they have more funds available.

With easi:buy purchasers of selected homes can put off paying 15% of the initial asking price. Therefore, if they have a 5 % deposit, they need only apply for a maximum 80% loan to value mortgage.

By reducing the size of the mortgage required without the need for a large deposit, the easi:buy scheme will hopefully mean purchasers have access to better interest rates. The deferred portion doesn’t need to be repaid for 10 years, or if they come to resell, but customers own 100% of their home from day one.

It means two-bedroom apartments are currently available for an initial outlay from just £99,446 (full price £116,995).

Vision will eventually consist of hundreds of new homes, alongside shops, offices, community facilities and areas of public open space, which can be used for leisure and community events and will be enhanced with landscaping and seating.

Hannah Pollard, sales manager for Redrow Homes (South West), said: “The new three and four-bedroom townhouses are perfect for families. They feature convivial open plan living spaces, fashionable kitchen designs with floor to ceiling units and top brand name appliances, plus bathrooms that are sleek, modern and pleasing to the eye. We’ve also got apartments available, which are ideal for first time buyers.

“These modern interiors beat second hand homes hands down when it comes to stylish, practical layouts, being energy efficiency and easy to maintain. We’ve calculated it could cost more than £30,000 to bring a second hand home up to the same standard.”

Among the new designs are the three/ four-bedroom ‘Drake’ house type, priced at £169,995 and for those looking for a larger four-bedroom property, the Nelson is priced at £189,995.

Both are laid out over three floors, with spacious open plan kitchen/dining areas and French doors opening out to the rear gardens. They feature downstairs cloaks / laundry rooms and on the first floors you'll find bright and airy lounges with Juliette balconies on some homes.

The Vision site was once part of the town centre, which was heavily damaged during the blitz of World War II, and was requisitioned by the MoD shortly afterwards. Redrow was chosen as preferred developer by national regeneration agency English Partnerships (now the HCA) to build a development of 460 new homes together with a range of community facilities on the former MoD site.
