Tune into lights out

24th March 2011 Print

The Tune Hotel in Westminster will be joining thousands of businesses worldwide on Saturday 26 March switching off their lights to mark Earth Hour.

At 8.30pm on Saturday all the lights in Tune's limited service hotel - which launched amidst a media fanfare last year - will be turned out as Tune endorses the Earth Hour campaign which aims to focus global attention on environmental awareness and the planet.

Mark Lankester, CEO, Tune Hotels said: "We have always endeavoured to be an eco-friendly hotel - our no-frills concept cuts down on wastage as guests pay only for the services that are important to them. Through our 'Less Waste, More Earth' pay?as?you?use system of add?ons for WiFi, TV, laundered towels and other energy?consuming facilities and amenities, Tune Hotels aims to help guests conserve both their funds as well as the earth's resources. We're pleased to play our small part in the global recognition of Earth Hour by switching our lights out."

Whilst bedroom lights will not be automatically switched off, guests checking in will be told about the campaign and invited to participate.

Tune Westminster has also committed to donate £5 for every room booked between 26th - 31st March for an April stay date to the WWF's Sky Rainforest Rescue Programme which aims to tackle deforestation in the Amazon and protect the home of thousands of species.
