The 2011 Quaife MSA British Rallycross Championship is go

The spectacular 2011 Quaife MSA British Rallycross Championship kicks off at the famous Lydden Hill circuit over the weekend of March 26th / 27th.
Leading high performance automotive transmission specialist Quaife Engineering is particularly pleased to be title sponsor of the Championship because it has close ties to the series, both as a supplier to numerous entrants and also thanks to Michael Quaife’s efforts as a competitor in the 1980’s and 1990’s.
With a wide variety of machinery competing, especially the spectacular Supercars which produce over 650 bhp and clock 0-60 mph times of under two seconds, rallycross is arguably the most exciting motorsport series of all. With up to 8 cars racing on both tarmac and gravel surfaces, each event boasts over 60 races per day and is tackled by more than 80 competitors from across the UK and beyond. Each Rallycross race lasts a maximum of 3 minutes, making it the ideal motor sport for competitors, spectators, sponsors and television coverage.
The 2010 season came to an exhilarating finale with Supercar Ford Fiesta driver Pat Doran claiming another title victory, followed closely by Andy Grant and David Binks.
But 2011 marks the start of a new era for British Rallycross, which is run by the Lydden Hill Motorsport Club, with new classes being introduced to raise the profile of the Championship.
For 2011, the overall Quaife MSA BRC title will now be awarded exclusively to drivers in the Supercar class, while a new MSA award for the two-wheel drive class – which will be rebranded Supernational – is being introduced to the series. The British Supernational class will include sub-groups for European championship type Super1600 and TouringCar spec machines.
The supporting races at the Quaife MSA BRC events will include the Suzuki Swift Sport one-make series, RX150 'buggies' and the MSA Swift Junior Rallycross championship. Two new groups will also join the BRC series; the MINI one-make category and a Hot Hatch category for 1600cc/16v 'production' cars, the latter group restricted to models that are not more than 10 years old.
Featuring at venues across Britain that include Knockhill, Mallory Park and Croft, plus a night race at Blyton and trips to Ireland (Mondello Park) plus Belgium (Maasmechelen), there’s plenty of opportunity to see the Quaife MSA British Rallycross Championship live.
The Quaife MSA British Rallycross Championship benefits from extensive television coverage, including a four-hour live show that is being broadcast from the first round on March 27 on Motors TV. Additional television coverage will come in the form of three programmes on Channel 4, each featuring highlights of two or three championship events.
