All Terrain fun at the Heritage Motor Centre this Easter
The Heritage Motor Centre has a whole host of events and special activities for the family during the Easter holidays. As well as visiting the exciting new exhibition “Sci-Fi at the Movies”, visitors can enjoy All Terrain Easter, a mix of Easter activities and a fortnight long celebration of Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles from 16 April – 1 May.
Along with special vehicle displays, Land Rover Experience will also be running daily rides on the new improved off-road track. Qualified instructors will drive visitors around the challenging course over rocky inclines, steep descents and some impressive water sections!
Each day visitors can enjoy All Terrain & Royal Wedding themed activities, whilst on Thursday 14, 21 & 28 April there will be special craft activity days for children to create and take home their very own masterpieces. On 22 April, Good Friday, children are in for a treat when Shaun the Sheep’s Land Rover will be making a special visit.
Convoy for Heroes will see an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest Land Rover convoy on the 24 April with the aim of having 500 or more Land Rovers involved. The convoy will be led by the world’s oldest Land Rover, known affectionately throughout the Land Rover community by its registration number HUE 166. All profits from the event will go to the charity which has raised over £70 million since its conception.
Planning a day out to the Centre on the 29 April but want to see the Royal Wedding at the same time? The Centre is having a large screen brought in so visitors can watch the excitement unfold whilst children can have a go at various royal themed activities. The Land Rover Legacy Exhibition will also be on display for two weeks from the 16 April and tells the story of the Lode Lane factory in Solihull from 1940 to the present day.
The celebrations finish with the Heritage Land Rover Show on 1 May, a great day out for all the family! Land Rover enthusiasts flock to this annual event which features many models plus the arrival of the annual Land Rover Heritage Run from Lode Lane to the HMC. Artist in residence, Ian Cook of PopBang Art will also be showcasing and creating his remarkable artworks - painting with remote controlled cars. As well as watching this amazing radical artist paint a new Range Rover Evoque, visitors will also have the opportunity of creating their very own masterpiece!
The Easter holidays also sees the re-opening of the Miniature Roadway which will be open daily from 14 April – 2 May from 11am - 4pm, weather dependant and are suitable for those aged 3 - 8. Visitors can also experience the thrills and spills of off-road driving on the Land Rover Experience. Stop Start Under 17 Driving Sessions are great for bored teenagers and give them learner driving experiences in dual controlled vehicles.
All Terrain Easter is just one of a whole host of family events taking place at the Heritage Motor Centre during 2011. Standard museum admission prices apply with the exception of the 1 May when Event Day prices apply and Gift Aid Season tickets, Tesco Club cards and any other promotional offers will not be valid. Discounted day and weekend tickets are available for the Heritage Land Rover Show in advance online. Museum entry fees are: Adults £11, Children £8 (5-16 years) under 5’s are free, Concessions are £9 and a Family ticket is £34. Also included in the ticket price is the new exhibition, Sci-Fi at the Movies. The Land Rover Experience costs £7 for adults and £6 for children.
