Apartment holidays made easy with HouseTrip

7th April 2011 Print

The launch of a new website this week might make UK holidaymakers reconsider the way they book their accommodation this year. HouseTrip offers people the opportunity to book a whole apartment for the price of a hotel room.

Founder and CEO of HouseTrip, Arnaud Bertrand, explains, “With HouseTrip, our ultimate goal is to change the way people travel: forget the blueprint holiday and generic hotel and opt for local accommodation. This way gives you a better insight into the culture of the city and far better value for money. It is just what holidaymakers need to try something different.”

HouseTrip has been designed with two concepts in mind: make it easy to book holiday apartments and make it safe to book holiday apartments. Bertrand continues, “We’ve managed to make the booking of holiday apartments as easy and safe as the booking of a hotel room. Since people get so much more value – a whole apartment for the price of a hotel room – we’ve erased barriers that were stopping them from switching to apartments.”

HouseTrip is indeed easy and safe. Easy because guests book an apartment as they would book a hotel, online and with a credit card. Safe because HouseTrip is scam-free, letting guests pay securely at the time of booking and only transferring payment to the host when the guests have happily started their stay.

All the apartments listed on HouseTrip come directly from private owners, who in turn can list their apartments for free and earn 2 to 3 times[1] more on their properties than they would with standard long-term tenants. Listing on HouseTrip, owners can really showcase their property with unlimited pictures and they are sent payment by HouseTrip directly to their bank account. They literally need to list, accept bookings and welcome guests – it’s as easy as that. The site already offers a wide range of choice in most major cities in Europe, with around 8,000 apartments in 250 destinations – a number increasing to 40,000 later this year. The average nightly rental fee for a whole apartment is £97[2].

Bertrand concludes, “When I see that for a mere £120 a night I can book on HouseTrip a fantastic two-bedroom apartment in London city centre, when for the same amount you only get a 2-star hotel room in the outskirts, I am extremely happy about the service we’re offering to our customers. It’s really a win-win situation: hosts earn more money renting short-term than long-term and guests get so much more value for their accommodation money.”
