Santa’s Lapland slams British Santa parks
In the wake of the imprisonment of two Victor and Henry Mears, the two brothers who misled thousands of customers at a Lapland-themed park in the New Forest Lapland, holiday specialist `Santa’s Lapland’, (santaslapland.com), is urging British holidaymakers to proceed with extreme caution when considering a fake British alternative to Lapland and book the real deal in Lapland instead.
Santa’s Lapland’s programme director Ian Hope said "The misleading nature of the Lapland New Forest attraction caused a lot of disappointment to a lot of people who lost money that would have been far better to invest in a holiday to Lapland, the genuine home of the real Santa.
"It’s unrealistic to believe that a British based ‘Lapland winter wonderland’ has the climate or the atmosphere to stage a winter wonderland attraction that truly evokes Christmas. You wouldn’t go to Kent for desert camel trekking or Birmingham for a white water surfing holiday, so no-one should expect to go to a British woodland to find Santa in a snowy, authentic setting.
"Lapland has real snow, beautiful woodland scenery and is the traditional home of Santa, and our holidaymakers find him in his rustic log-cabin home deep in a Lapp forest. That’s about as far from a mud-engulfed, tacky British experience that you can get”.
Victor and Henry Mears were sentenced to 13 months in jail on 18th March 2011 after being found guilty of eight counts of misleading advertising, after taking thousands of pounds off disappointed families who hoped to find a snowy winter wonderland but arrived at a muddy field.
Ian Hope continued “In Lapland, where the temperature barely raises above zero and where the ground is snow-covered from November onwards families can build snowmen, sledge and play in real snow, see reindeer in their natural habitat, enjoy husky sled and reindeer sleigh rides. And of course, track down the real Santa in a believable environment.
"Our genuine Santa’s Lapland winter wonderland is well set up, well regulated and gives families value for money. Lapland holidays provide a priceless experience and it’s a lot cheaper than losing money to fraudsters and it’s money well spent compared with the less than authentic venues that have been springing up in Britain in recent years."
