Make millions from your mobile - how app-ealling!

15th April 2011 Print

A revolutionary mobile phone app has just been launched that will give consumers the opportunity to create their own apps and potentially make millions.

Offficial, a specialist mobile application investment fund, has launched FundedApps. The new app is free to download and allows members of the public to submit an app idea and potentially see it created, developed and marketed with full investor backing.

Individuals whose apps are successfully developed and launched will earn 25 per cent on all net revenue earned - which, in the case of Angry Birds, one of the most successful apps ever, would be over £9 million to date!

Applications are the fastest-growing sector of the telecoms and technology industry, making them extremely lucrative. Speaking at the Mobile World Congress, WPP chief executive Martin Sorrell expressed his belief that there is a very significant profit to be made from apps, describing them as 'the holy grail'. He commented: "In terms of revenue generated we are still only at the tip of the iceberg."

Alastair Curtis, executive director at Offficial - commented: "There's an absolutely huge market out there - nearly 27 million mobile phone users in the UK have downloaded and used an app and this figure is constantly growing. With FundedApps, you can easily submit an app idea, and if it's good enough, you stand to make a huge amount of money."

Over ten billion applications - ranging from games to grocery shopping services - have already been downloaded from Apple's App Store. Experts predict the number of downloads will surpass 25 billion by 2015, providing significant opportunities for forward-thinking individuals with innovative ideas.

Alastair Curtis continued: "We're hugely excited to be adding a new dimension to the mobile application market. FundedApps will give consumers who have brilliant ideas, but lack the resources to develop them, the opportunity to bring them to life."

Alastair created FundedApps with fellow executive director, Jamie Lyons, in November 2010. Jamie commented: "The market for mobile applications is vast, ever-changing and set to increase in size with the rapid development of smartphones. FundedApps marks a new era in app technology - consumers will now be able to influence a multi-million pound market, not simply just by using apps, but by creating them as well."

Each app idea costs £1.19 to submit and will be assessed by a viability committee for potential development. FundedApps will then work closely with its team of investors to select and launch the best ideas. Selected ideas will receive £250 upon confirmation of investment.
