The organisers of the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, the UK’s biggest celebration of power and speed, have announced that the event’s Fireworks Concert and military tattoo will be bigger, brighter and louder than ever in 2011.  The Pageant takes place over three days (15 to 17 July), with the hugely popular fireworks concert and military tattoo being held on the evening of Saturday 16 July.

The Cholmondeley fireworks concert has been a long-standing highlight of the region’s social calendar since 1989, its exceptional setting, spectacular fireworks and emotive music all contributing to a ‘Proms in the Park’ atmosphere.

The concert raised over £75,000 for Help for Heroes in 2010, and Combat Stress – the UK’s leading military charity specialising in the care of veterans’ mental health – has been chosen as the beneficiary in 2011.

With the renowned Tim Redmond conducting, the concert will start with the Mossley Brass Band and Military Marching Bands, followed by the Manchester Camerata Orchestra taking to the stage for a ’Last Night of the Proms’-style sequence.  The ensembles will perform a packed programme of rousing and evocative pieces, including crowd-pleasing themes from the Dambusters and Goldfinger movies, as well as the Top Gear signature tune to excite the many petrolheads in attendance.  The evening will round off with a spectacular 20-minute fireworks display.

James Hall, Events Director for the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, commented: “The 2010 Fireworks Concert was a wonderful occasion with record visitor numbers and a huge amount raised for charity.  We have not rested on our laurels and I have no doubt that this year’s concert will be the best ever, with a thrilling concert programme and a sensational fireworks display.”

The Cholmondeley Pageant of Power organisers have confirmed that those who visit cpop.co.uk  to book tickets before 1 May can enjoy a 33 per cent saving.  Adult entry tickets for the Fireworks Concert are currently available for just £20 (£30 if purchased on the day), while children’s tickets are currently £10.  Paddock tickets combining both the Pageant of Power and Fireworks Concert are also available from £40 when booked before 1 May.

More action-packed than ever – with race cars classic and modern, helicopters, hovercrafts, powerboats and the UK’s only British Army combat power simulation – the 2011 Cholmondeley Pageant of Power will offer more bangs-per-buck than any other UK event, making it the perfect family day out.

The Pageant is located in the Cholmondeley Estate in Cheshire, and was created to celebrate power and performance in its many forms.  Winning the Best Tourist Event in Cheshire, and drawing in more than 50,000 visitors in 2010, the Pageant of Power has fast gained a reputation that makes early booking essential.

Gates for the fireworks concert open at 16.00 on Saturday 16 July, and the event ends at around 22.30.  Ticket booking details and further event information can be found at cpop.co.uk.
