Anonymous modern at Salisbury Cathedral

The largest exhibition to date of figurative sculptor Sean Henry’s work can be seen in the spectacular surroundings of Salisbury Cathedral for three months from 22 July – 31 October.

‘Conflux: A Union of the Sacred and the Anonymous’ features over 20 sculptures of dramatically different scales occupying vacant plinths and open spaces on both the inside and exterior of this iconic 13h century building, as they join the daily throng of visitors and pilgrims.

The Cathedral’s Education Department is devising a programme of events to support the exhibition including workshops, talks and discussions. Tours giving an insight into Sean Henry’s work will be lead by specialist guides and, for a limited number of pre-booked groups, by the exhibition curator and sculptor Jacquiline Creswell.

Salisbury Cathedral is already rich in contemporary artworks including pieces by Elisabeth Frink, Gabriel Loire, William Pye and Emily Young.  The Cathedral welcomes visitors every day from 8.30am to 6.15pm.  If visiting on a Sunday, recommended viewing times are 12.00noon – 4.00pm (services are held at 8.00am, 9.15am, 10.30am and 4.30pm).  For further details visit: salisburycathedral.org.uk
