Thousands of downtown business professionals descended upon Brookfield Office Properties’ Bank of America Plaza in downtown Los Angeles yesterday for the opening day of the 2011 Los Angeles Motorexpo. Live every day this week from 10am to 6pm, running through Friday 13th May; business professionals, residents and visitors have been busy checking out all that is hot on four wheels from many of the world’s leading automotive makers including Aston Martin, Audi, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Fiat, Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Lotus, Hyundai, Saab, Volvo and more.

Vehicle highlights include the Aston Martin V12 Vantage, Audi A7 and V10 R8 Spyder, Cadillac CTS-V Coupe, Chevy Volt, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Fiat 500, Ford Explorer, Hyundai Equus, Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Range Rover Evoque, Lotus Evora, Saab 9-5 and the all-new Volvo S60. Vehicles from many of the world’s leading automotive makers are situated amongst the trees, flowers, waterfalls and the 42-foot high “Four Arches” sculpture by Alexander Calder that fill Bank of America Plaza in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Attendees have also been hopping behind the wheel to test drive select new models from Fiat, Audi, Saab, Ford, Volvo and Chevrolet - including the all-new electric Chevy Volt.

Motorexpo visitors are also enjoying an up-close look at the new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations just installed at Bank of America Plaza. A Juice Bar EV charging station is on display at the plaza throughout the Motorexpo to demonstrate the ease of charging an electric vehicle. The four new EV charging stations now permanently in place at the property will provide a convenient location for a fast charge for all electric vehicles in the Downtown Los Angeles region.

“The new EV charging stations just installed at Bank of America Plaza are part of our bigger-picture goal to have operating EV charging stations in multiple Brookfield property garages nationwide by the end of 2011,” said Dan Kindbergh, Senior Vice President of U.S. Commercial Operations, Brookfield Office Properties. “EV charging stations complement the entire Green Parking Program at Brookfield which also includes bike/scooter parking, premium hybrid parking, energy efficient lighting, tire inflation capability and more. Working closely with Green Garage Associates and the Green Parking Council, Brookfield is leading the way with environmentally conscious parking.”

“We are thrilled to be bringing this our second annual Los Angeles Motorexpo to downtown LA’s business, resident and visitor population,” said Motorexpo CEO Graeme Carver. “This unique automotive event brings the very latest the industry has to offer directly to a traditionally extremely hard to target audience and allows them to engage with vehicles in a relaxed environment, during and around work hours. Business people with hectic schedules can enjoy hot new model vehicles from a variety of top manufacturers, right outside their offices, and as the event is completely free to enjoy we look forward to what already promises to be an even bigger audience than last year.”

The Los Angeles Motorexpo at Bank of America Plaza is modeled after the successful Canary Wharf London Motorexpo that has taken place annually since 1996. This summer, the London Motorexpo will welcome more than 400,000 visitors, making it the United Kingdom’s largest free to enjoy automotive event. The New York Motorexpo, which takes place at Brookfield’s World Financial Center in lower Manhattan, was launched in 2008 and is set to take place this year September 18-23, 2011 while the inaugural Toronto Motorexpo joins the lineup for 2011 and is set to take place June 18- 22, 2011.
