Vospers Mazda Exeter and Mazda UK have donated towards the cost of the first prize of a Mazda2 1.3 petrol TS2 car worth £11,900 to Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) in support of the charity’s Grand Summer Draw 2011.  The Summer Draw is expected to generate in excess of £50,000 through ticket sales. In addition, a Mazda2 has been branded for the charity to take along to fundraising events around Devon to publicise the draw.

Caroline Creer, Fundraising Director of Devon Air Ambulance Trust said “We would like to thank Vospers Mazda and Mazda UK for their continued support, which makes a big difference to our fundraising. We very much look forward to working with Mazda again and continuing the successful partnership.

Caroline added “Over the last three years the Grand Summer Draw has generated an income of £126,000. None of this would have been possible without corporate supporters such as Vospers Mazda, Bovey Castle and Francis Clark.”

“The busy 2011 events season will include travel to a variety of events across Devon, so having the branded Mazda2 for fundraising purposes is invaluable, and helps raise awareness of the Mazda2 Grand Summer Draw prize car.”

Peter Vosper, MD of Vospers Mazda added: “We are very proud to continue our support of Devon Air Ambulance Grand Summer Draw for the fourth consecutive year.  The Draw plays an important role in generating income for Devon Air Ambulance Trust and we look forward to activating the 2011 support through insightful, engaging and fun events throughout the county.”

Devon Air Ambulance Trust’s mission is to relieve sickness and injury in the county of Devon by assisting in the provision of an Air Ambulance Service, which costs in the region of £4.5 million to keep airbourne each year.  DAAT’s vision is for Devon to have an outstanding, independent and efficient air ambulance service, available to all, 24 hours a day.

DAAT currently operates a ‘daylight hours’ service covering 12 hours from 7am – 7pm between two helicopters from two sites - Exeter and Umberleigh - crewed by a pilot and two paramedics undertaking life-saving missions to accidents such as road traffic incidents, sport-related injuries and medical emergencies.

Devon Air Ambulance Trust and Vospers Mazda in Exeter first worked together in 2008, when Dealer Principal Alex Bass visited the Middlemoor Airbase, located less than two minutes’ drive from the Honiton Road-based dealership to a presentation on how the business community could get involved in fundraising.  Over the past 3 years the charity has raffled two Mazda2s and an MX-5.

Alex Bass, Dealer Principal, Vospers Mazda said: “The team and I are looking forward to launching the Devon Air Ambulance Trust Grand Summer Draw at the Devon County Show from Thursday 19th to Saturday 21st May at the Devon County Showground Westpoint.  We hope to generate a high number of ticket sales and interest from the people of Devon to kick-start the summer campaign.”
