Taylor Wimpey Telford supports local community

Primary school pupils are set to reap the benefits of a donation from Taylor Wimpey, the leading housebuilder behind the Castle Meadows development of property for sale in Telford.
Taylor Wimpey has added to Apley Wood Primary’s growing reputation – by donating much-needed materials for the school’s outdoor learning projects, on behalf of the Castle Meadows development of new homes in Telford.
The leading housebuilder, which is behind the popular new development of apartments and houses for sale in Telford, is providing water butts, timber and topsoil for the allotment at the school in Pool Farm Avenue, as well as pipes and guttering for Early Years play.
Outdoor activities are a big part of life for all pupils, who are already growing potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic and beans in the allotment area within the school grounds.
The timber donated by Taylor Wimpey will be used to mark out the different play and learning areas, as well as to create raised beds to make it easier for the pupils with physical disabilities to plant, water and harvest the produce being grown.
Rebecca Greenhalgh, Foundation Stage Manager at the school, said: “Taylor Wimpey’s contribution is helping us to develop an outdoor learning environment which the children will absolutely love – and from which they will be able to access their learning so much more.
“Being involved in Apley Wood School’s projects builds valuable community links, and as well as donating all these materials they are supporting us, during the summer holidays, by volunteering to level part of our outdoor learning environment and put in place the timbers and topsoil.”
As a thank you, Castle Meadows Sales Executive Jo Elkin and Taylor Wimpey Site Manager Gary Lever were invited to a special tea party at the school.
Sales Executive, Jo, says: “When we heard about the school’s allotment project, we were only too happy to help, especially since Castle Meadows is in the Apley Wood catchment area.
“We hope the children will have fun growing a bumper crop of veg this summer – and for many years to come!
“Gary and I had a fantastic afternoon at the tea party, and would like to thank everybody at the school for their kind hospitality – and fabulous cakes!”
