2011 National Sandcastle Competition in North Devon

A diary date for lovers of buckets and spades…3 July sees the annual UK National Sandcastle Competition at Woolacombe beach in North Devon.

Now in its 16th year, teams from all over the UK will be letting their imagination run wild to create a masterpiece in an area of sand measuring 10 metres x 10 metres.

Sculptures in past events – which are organised by the North Devon Hospice - include igloos, bathing belles, crocodiles, cartoon characters, turtles and dolphins.  Further details can be found on UK National Sandcastle Competition
