Vauxhall was pleased to deliver a new Vauxhall Zafira to the Bedford Hospitals Charity at the Primrose Unit, Bedford this week.

The roomy people carrier was handed to Gordon Beedon and Stephanie Wilson, two of the 28 dedicated volunteers of the Charity. The Charity’s volunteer drivers provide free transport service to patients of The Macmillan Primrose Unit at Bedford Hospital, thus caring for their comfort and reducing time away from home for their daily treatments.

The new 7-seater is joining a team of three other Vauxhall Zafiras which are taking patients every day to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge for their treatment.

Cherie Denton, Vauxhall’s Community Officer, said: “The Vauxhall Zafira is ideal as the patients are able to get in and out of the vehicle with ease and the extra room permits either family members to travel with them or wheelchair storage if needed. We have been providing the Charity with vehicles for the past 5 years.”

Since the scheme started in January 2006, approximately 8,000 patient-journeys were made, covering over 400,000 miles.
