Sofitel celebrates Fête De La Musique

16th June 2011 Print

On June 21, 2011, every Sofitel location will temporarily become an ambassador of the Fête de la Musique.

First held in France on June 21, 1982, the first day of summer in the northern hemisphere, the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival) was soon exported; today, it is an annual, international, unifying event. It is only natural for Sofitel, the international French hotel brand, to help celebrate this major cultural event around the world.

From Paris to Washington, Melbourne, Buenos Aires and Marrakech, Sofitel locations on five continents will join the party with a natural blend of French elegance and the best of local culture.

A piano soloist in the lobby, an intimate concert at the bar, a jazz band by the pool…each hotel will offer its own themed event as a tribute to Music. Read on for a few examples.

Europe

Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese (Italy) – The event will be celebrated on the hotel's famed terrace, where guests can enjoy the best view of the Italian capital. DJ Hoffman and Karine Chenaf will handle the musical program while Federico Tomasselli mixes a selection of original cocktails.

Sofitel Berlin Gendarmenmarkt (Germany) – The hotel has chosen 3 styles of music to keep the beat for this celebration of summer and unite French and German culture once again. A violin duet will welcome guests before giving the stage to a jazzy quartet of Berlin musicians. Finally, a DJ will spin lounge-style music. Champagne, wine and original cocktails will accompany a typically French meal.

Asia Pacific

Sofitel Macau Ponte 16 (China) – For the occasion, the hotel plans to join forces with the Alliance Française for an evening highlighting French jazz, with the Greslebin trio providing music. A buffet will offer the best French delicacies, including oysters, foie gras and cheese, and a selection of wines and champagne will accompany the dinner.

Sofitel Sydney Wentworth (Australia) – The hotel will celebrate the Fête de la Musique all week long. Every evening, black and white snapshots will be projected in the lobby as French jazz band "C’est si bon" reprises the greatest standards by Edith Piaf, Yves Montand and company. The So French Martini will be offered at the special price of $14 for the event.

Americas

Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square (United States) – Just steps from the White House, one of the most prestigious locations in the capital will be holding a white-themed evening with Brazilian influences, including a live group. To accompany this musical event, the hotel bar will offer a special selection of cocktails, including mojitos and other caipirinhas.

Sofitel Buenos Aires Arroyo (Argentina) – Blending French and Latin American musical culture, the hotel invites its guests to explore 3 musical ambiances: a singer accompanied by a pianist at Café Arroyo, a harpist at Le Sud restaurant and a tribute to tango in the lobby.
