Peugeot, a sponsor of the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed, is demonstrating excitement at this year’s event with an advanced electric vehicle concept – the EX1 – that is capable of record-breaking acceleration, and will be running up the 1.16-mile hill climb, in the hands of Stéphane Caillet and prominent motoring journalists during the weekend. EX1 is propelled by two electric motors driving each axle with a combined power output of 340bhp, with torque at the wheels of 1680Nm which enables impressive acceleration with a capability of 0-62mph in just 3.49 seconds.

Peugeot is also displaying new and future products, some that make their UK debut at Goodwood.  Key amongst these is the petrol-hybrid HR1 – a Compact MPV concept car that is a modern, bold design that provides a further style indication of the design direction Peugeot is taking going forward.

The latest cars are also on display and include the new 308 CC (Coupé Cabriolet) - Peugeot is the pioneer of the folding metal roof car – and this model now has a 200bhp THP petrol engine  available in its line-up.  Also on display is the popular and stylish RCZ Sports Coupé, in the form of the new Asphalt LE of which only 75 are available in the UK.  It exclusively features Matt exterior Telluric grey paintwork with black roof, bespoke ‘Asphalt’ branding and attractive 19” Solstice black alloy wheels.  The new 508, launched in the UK in April, is available to view in both Saloon and SW.

Another key new car, soon to launch in the UK is the astonishingly capable Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4. It is the world's first diesel/electric car and combines a diesel HDi 163bhp engine at the front with a 37bhp electric motor driving the rear wheels to provide four-wheel drive, a potential combined 200bhp but with an achievable 74mpg and emissions of just 99g/km. Finally, the 3008 HYbrid4 also has the ability to operate as a ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle).

Competition vehicle displays include the 908 Endurance Race car, one of three factory Peugeot cars that finished the recent gruelling Le Mans 24-hour race, and are chasing victory in the ILMC at Imola this same weekend.  Also displayed is Guy Wilks’ Peugeot 207 S2000 IRC Rally Car.  Guy will be running the 207 up the hillclimb and sideways through the rally stages throughout the weekend.

On Thursday, Peugeot is running a number RCZ Sports Coupés and new 508s in both Saloon and SW body style guises in the 2nd Goodwood Moving Motor Show.

EX1 is also on display, when not being dynamically demonstrated, in the FoS-TECH pavilion – the home of future technology vehicles, close to the Peugeot stand. Dynamic runs of the EX1 concept - the fastest-accelerating electric record-breaking vehicle – take place early morning and after lunchtime.  Though it’s eerily quiet, it has already set many acceleration records and beaten the electric lap of the Nordschleife track in just 9 minutes.

Peugeot Managing director, Jon Goodman comments: “At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Peugeot’s heritage and future strengths are on display.  Peugeot is a brand that is at the beginning of its third centenary of producing products of considerable innovation, endurance and style.”
