Not too late for a Lakeland view says Cumbrian Cottages

29th June 2011 Print

There’s still time to find a ‘room with a view’ this summer says the Lake District’s largest holiday cottage company, Cumbrian Cottages.

With a rolling programme of inspection and approval (or rejection if not up to standard), new holiday cottages are introduced every month, so there’s still a chance to wake up to a view of Windermere.

For instance, Sethera is a second-floor apartment in a 19th century gentleman’s residence set in four acres of grounds.  It has superb views over Windermere, and the new owners have added a double-ended roll-top bath to the master suite and a well-equipped kitchen to this two-bedroom Ambleside property sleeping four.  A week’s rental this summer is £560.

For direct access to Windermere, it’s hard to beat Vespers, one of several cottages in the grounds of a former hotel, that run down to the water’s edge: perfect for an afternoon picnic or watching the Windermere steamers passing by.  Sleeping two, a week’s rental of this three-star single-storey cottage is £490.

And just outside Keswick, The Howe is another imposing house providing stylish apartments for holidaymakers, with Osprey Heights, as its name suggests, offering superb views to Bassenthwaite Lake and an osprey nest site from its second-floor location.  Sleeping four in four-star comfort, the apartment costs £830 for a week this summer.
