Barratt Exeter is celebrating the success of five of its site managers in the NHBC’s prestigious ‘Pride in the Job’ competition.

The accolade is described as a ‘truly superb achievement’ by Barratt managing director, Tim Larner: “These awards are not given out lightly. They are in recognition of some outstanding work from these managers,” he said. “I am thrilled for them – and delighted that Barratt is top of the league for awards this year for the seventh consecutive year.

“Quality is a very high priority for us, from the design and build of our homes to the level of customer service. Our site managers work hard to make sure that all of our developments meet the very high standards customers rightly expect from us. I’m pleased that this effort has been recognised by NHBC with these special awards.”

Honours this year go to site managers throughout the region with James Smith from Canyke Fields, Jason Gower from Wyndham Park in Yeovil, Steve Damerell from Brunel View, Malcolm Tilley from Market Quarter, both in Plymouth and Kurt Henson from Sandpipers in Dawlish all receiving awards.

NHBC's ‘Pride in the Job’ is the only national competition to focus on a site manager’s contribution to the production of high quality new homes. It was set up in 1980 to seek out the UK’s best site managers and reward them for creating quality, beautifully finished homes.

Thousands of managers each year are assessed in 38 aspects of site management – including technical knowledge, consistency in the building process and leadership and organisational skills.

“This is a fantastic achievement – one supported by the many members of our team who all help to make it all possible,” said Tim. “Our number one priority, is always, is to make sure that our customers receive the best possible service – and I look forward to this year’s success being repeated for many years to come.”

As winners of the quality award the five Barratt managers now have a chance of being nominated for the NHBC regional and Seal of Excellence awards. The regional winners will be announced in the autumn.
